In 2017, Harper & Blohm, a leading supplier of rare Australian and international benchmark cheeses, quietly started an online ordering and delivery service.
Owner Olivia Sutton offers a small and ever-changing selection of seasonal produce; much like those who come into her store, she wants online customers to experience what’s ripe and ready on the day. “We don’t have 10 to 15 selections of each cheese,” she says. “We select four to six each day we think are at their peak and are in season.”
The online service began in May, and offers door-to-door refrigerated cheese box delivery around Melbourne and many regional areas. It includes a specialty cheese cut to order, a monthly cheese subscription, or gift boxes for special occasions.
“We are all time-poor these days, so you can order your cheese for a weekend, a gift or just for your weekly shop online,” Sutton says. “We have also found a lot of people are using our ‘Click and Collect’ option. There’s nothing better than selecting cheese from the lounge at 9.30pm.”
Although a delivery service was always part of the Harper & Blohm business plan, transportation with previous couriers proved difficult. “None of them came refrigerated,” Sutton says. “Now we are working with a fantastic courier who delivers around Victoria. If you’re not home when your delivery arrives, we pack orders in an insulated box to maintain the temperature.”
Order online for home delivery or ‘Click and Collect’ from Harper & Blohm’s Essendon store.
