This One Thing: Marameo’s Italian Beef Sandwiches Inspired by The Bear

The Bear may have won Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebri Emmys, but the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences failed to acknowledge the true star of the show – the Italian beef sandwich.

Marameo in the CBD is making up for the snub is by adding the dish to its menu.

The Chicago staple is typically made with thinly sliced roast beef that’s cooked in beef jus, which is also often served on the side as a dipping sauce. Different roast beef shops in Chicago put their own spin on the dish, and takes have been known to blur cultural boundaries.

Here are the details of Marameo’s version:

What: Slow-cooked Wagyu beef, pickled onions and caciocavallo (aged mozzarella-like cheese) are layered in a crunchy baguette lined with spicy house-made mustard. It comes with a side of beef jus for dipping.
