“One of the Hardest Decisions We Have Had To Make” – Goodtime Footscray Bar Baby Snakes To Close Next Month

Baby Snakes, the “aggressively not pretentious” Footscray bar by Mark Nelson (The Moon, Milton Wine Shop), will close on Saturday December 23. The news was announced today via Instagram.

“This is one of the hardest decisions we have had to make”, the post reads. “This has been a wild ride to say the least and we are very grateful to the community and people that we have met on this journey.”

When Nelson opened the cool and casual bar on the corner of Nicholson and Chambers streets in 2021, the idea was to present its tight selection of wine in the most approachable way possible – in a relaxed setting, sans snobbery.

Landing somewhere between a wine bar and a dive, the venue also became known for its fortnightly trivia nights, live music and DJs.

The team encourages patrons to visit before close. “Please come have a good time with us,” the Instagram post reads. “[O]ne last drink! One last boogie!”

Baby Snakes will close on December 23, 2023.
