Preston's sprawling brewbar Moon Dog World is arguably the best-placed venue in town to become a drive-through right now, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.
The team also has about 250,000 litres of beer to offload; kitchen and floor staff who need work; and masses of Melburnians who need food, brews and entertainment – but who are also self-isolating. The solution, as we're seeing venues across the country discover, is the drive-through.
From Tuesday March 24, the Moon Dog crew will begin operating a contactless drive-through at its Preston outpost. Another, at the Abbotsford brewery, will launch the following day.
At Preston, the menu includes whole za’atar-spiced rotisserie chickens with gravy; cheeseburgers and fries; 12-hour beef short ribs; buffalo cauliflower; vegan burgers; falafel rolls; salads; and more. Abbotsford will be serving pizzas, including a bacon-and-egg number dubbed The Hangover.
The drive-through drinks list at both bars is stacked with Moon Dog’s tropical lagers, frosty sours and other fun brews, too.
Moon Dog World is also doing delivery for all orders over $40 to Preston, Reservoir, Kingsbury, Rosanna, Heidelberg, Eaglemont, Ivanhoe, Kew, Alphington, Fairfield, Northcote, Brunswick East and Thornbury. Moon Dog Abbotsford will deliver under the same terms to Abbotsford, Richmond, Cremorne, Collingwood, Fitzroy, Clifton Hill, Kew, Hawthorn and Burnley.
The team has also added a beer-only online store that delivers Australia-wide.
Moon Dog World’s Preston drive-through operates from 12pm to 8pm daily. Moon Dog Abbotsford's drive-through will operate from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays and 12pm to 8pm on weekends.
