Since opening on Greville Street almost two years ago, Dave Brennan and Liam Magee’s Massive Wieners has only grown. Having taken their hotdogs – ranging from the three-inch ‘Little Pecker’ to the whopping 12-inch ‘Massive Wiener’ – to festivals, parties and shopping centres, the Wiener boys have moved from their mini shop on Greville Street to a bigger space on Chapel Street.

The old favourites are still there. A short menu comprising of the Classic, Kraut, Pickle, Veggie and Chilli Wieners remains front and centre, as well as the bowtie-wearing leopard, the American diner atmosphere and an impressive catalogue of Polaroids picturing visitors brave enough to attempt the legendary 25-inch wiener (the fastest time currently stands at a swift two minutes and 16 seconds).

Previously a takeaway-only venue, bar stools now line the new interior and those looking for a little more than hotdogs can look forward to heaped serves of fries (plain or with toppings such as chilli cheese or ‘Disco Fries’, a gravy and cheese topping combo). Wash it all down with a sugar hit from the new milkshake menu of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

Co-owner Magee says there are grand plans ahead to make Massive Wieners a 24-hours, seven-day-a-week operation (a liquor license is currently in the works). In the meantime, the busy Wiener team will continue running their mobile hotdog business alongside the Chapel Street venue, with Magee confirming future appearances at festivals and parties.

The move up the road places Massive Wieners at the centre of Chapel Street’s late night action. No doubt a tall milkshake and equally lengthy hotdog will be a welcome addition to the area.
