What is it about the Espresso Martini that makes Australians lose their minds? In Melbourne, things have reached the point where bars have the stuff on tap: Black Pearl and Mr West are just two of them.

A festival dedicated to the cocktail is returning to Melbourne after its successful debut last year. The Mr Black Festival of the Espresso Martini will take over Meat Market in November, serving up at least 20 versions of the drink.

The festival will be divided into four different areas devoted to Espresso Martinis, including the main bar, the Mr Black Coffee Shop (where you'll find your liquor topped with a doughnut), a speakeasy-style spot by Everleigh Bottling Co and an outdoor tiki bar run by Windsor’s Jungle Boy. Each bar will serve its own take on the caffeinated cocktail.

Fancy Hank’s and Toasta & Co are part of the food offering, and between martinis there'll be beer from Holgate Brewhouse.

This year's festival also feature masterclasses and live music.

The Mr Black Festival of the Espresso Martini will be held at Meat Market, 5 Blackwood Street, Melbourne, on Friday November 3 to Sunday November 5. Tickets are $30 per person and go on sale October 1 at 9am, here.
