Lune Is Bringing Back Its Flaky, Buttery Hot Cross Cruffins for Easter

To get into the Easter spirit, Lune is once again taking the best parts of a hot cross bun, croissant and muffin and rolling them into one.
From Good Friday until Easter Monday, the Fitzroy croissanterie is bringing back its hot cross cruffins. They’ll be available for takeaway and delivery orders.
“The hot cross cruffin is a real hybrid of a hybrid,” says Lune’s founder Kate Reid. “A cruffin is a hybrid of a croissant [and a] muffin, and the hot cross cruffin is a hybrid of a cruffin and a hot cross bun.”
They’re filled with sultanas, candied citrus peel and a spiced custard made with star-anise, cinnamon, mixed spice and nutmeg. On top: a classic cross in a traditional hot cross bun glaze.
Reid’s known for creating one of the world’s first cruffins – croissant dough baked in a muffin tin and stuffed with a filling – in 2013.
Lune’s hot cross cruffin is $8, plus a 15 per cent holiday surcharge. It’s available at the Fitzroy location for pick-up (or drive-up) and delivery from April 10 to 13. Order online or by calling 0467 048 540.
