This hyper-colour hot mess is the Magic Mushroom jaffle; the newest menu item at South Yarra’s Two Wrongs.
It sounds harmless on paper; a jaffle made with mozzarella, pickled mushrooms and kimchi. Until you get to the “kewpie mayo rainbow”.
Co-owner Zachary Riggs won’t even reveal how the rainbow is made. “It’s a trade secret – that’s what makes it so magical,” he says.
The jaffle is part of a menu overhaul that coincides with Two Wrongs’ first birthday this Friday. Dishes still to come include Mexican food served in bento boxes – a dig at Asian fusion which, Riggs says, like rainbow food, “has gone too far”.
