In the lead-up to Spring Racing Carnival, Broadsheet has been busy preparing the menu for our bar in The Birdcage, Bar Schweppes.

This year, we’ve partnered with Melbourne’s best bartenders to come up with a drinks list specially crafted for race day.

The Woods, for instance, have come up with the bittersweet Giddy Up Spritz, composed of Ketel One Vodka, Aperol, honey, lemon and Schweppes Agrum Citrus Blend.

The boys from The Beaufort bring the Venezuelan Thunder, with Zacapa 23 Rum, ginger, lime and Schweppes Dry Ginger Ale driving the spices.

Seamstress, on the other hand, will deliver something quite refined with the Pimms Rangoon, a race-day classic made from Pimms, sweet vermouth, pomegranate, fruit and ginger, topped off with Schweppes Dry Ginger Ale.

In keeping with the fruity theme, Bar Ampere is offering Tanqueray, Aperol and fresh mandarin juice, topped off with Schweppes Soda in the Winner Winner, undoubtedly true to its name.

And finally, Brunswick Street’s cocktail institution Black Pearl will be mixing the Up and at ‘em - a Johnnie Walker Gold, St Germain Elderflower, lemon, ginger and Schweppes Soda pearler that’ll cheer you whether you’ve won or lost with the bookies.

Also available at the Schweppes Bar by Broadsheet will be a Perfect G&T, a Vodka Rickey - otherwise known as gin, lime and soda - and, of course, a Flemington Fling, the festival’s official drink.

Bar Schweppes by Broadsheet will appear in The Birdcage for four days over the Spring Racing Carnival. All drinks will also be available from the Flemington Fling Bar in the general admission area, and at the aforementioned bars around Melbourne.
