During May there is a simple way to help people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage.

Sacred Heart Mission has partnered with restaurants and cafes across the City of Port Phillip and the CBD to raise money for its Meals Program. All you need to do is eat at a participating venue during the month and add an extra $4 to your bill.

It costs Sacred Heart Mission $4 to provide a healthy meal for someone in need. By giving this small amount, you’ll help raise the funds the mission needs to continue to provide the 400 healthy meals it serves each day from its St Kilda dining hall.

More than 60 venues are participating in Dine With Heart Month this year, including Babu Ji, Cicciolina, Hanôi Hannah, Uncle, Bomba and Smalls Bar.

Certain venues are going a step further by hosting their own fundraising events. Radio Mexico is putting on a two-course dinner with a welcome drink and a tequila tasting session, hosted by Tromba Tequila’s master distiller, Marco Cedano. Luxembourg Bar & Bistro is planning a three-course-plus-canapes fundraising dinner. The Vineyard is hosting a murder-mystery-style three-course dining event.

The month will culminate in the Dine With Heart formal gala dinner on May 24 at the Palais Theatre, hosted by 3RRR presenter Cameron Smith. Some of Melbourne’s top chefs, including Todd Moses (French Saloon), Chris Watson (Luxembourg), Jesse Gerner (Bomba), Scott Pickett (Estelle), Daniel Wilson (Huxtaburger), Peter Sheldon (European), Emma D’Alessandro (Donovans) and Pierre Roelofs are doing the cooking.
