One of our favourite cocktail bars Der Raum has released their new spring menu. Now it would be silly for us to mention a menu change of all our favourite places, but there are not many cocktail bars in Melbourne whose drinks look and taste like these.
Changing their drinks list to fit with the seasonal seems appropriate, since all drinks are made with the consideration of food, and fresh, seasonal ingredients. Brimming with lighter, more floral flavours, the Der Raum spring menu includes the results of months of obligatory research and refinement of course, but also some work with ongoing bartender exchange with Singapore sister venue, Tippling Club.
Doing away with the dark, robust winter pairings, the spring menu includes mixtures such as the Barney Banana – a boozy interpretation of a childhood favourite. A tribute to one of Melbourne’s most renowned chefs, Ben Shewry, an absinthe based drink with cold smoked rosemary and star anise umeshu. There is also Midnight in Sicily including arverna, campari and blood orange, as well as a Der Raum Pina Colada, and another addition called Sausage Fingers, which we think you might need to get down there to sip for yourselves.
