Some of the biggest culinary names in the country are heading to Daylesford to lead the next series of cooking classes at the renowned Lake House’s Cooking School.

Kicking off the new program is macaron master Adriano Zumbo. He will lead the Words in Winter masterclass alongside food writer Melissa Leong of Fooderati. Victor Liong (Lee Ho Fook and Lawyers, Guns and Money), Andy Harmer (The Point) and Lennox Hastie (Firedoor in Sydney) are joining forces in September for a spring masterclass highlighting a number of different cuisines.

“The Lake House is such an institution in the industry,” says Victor Liong, who will be sharing insights and techniques for preparing Asian foods. “I remember buying the book when I was an apprentice. I’m excited to visit, I’ve never been to Daylesford before.

“I may share the Lee Ho Fook eggplant recipe,” he continues. “We’ll just have to wait and see.”

In October, Rosa Mitchell (Rosa’s Kitchen and Rosa's Canteen) and Johnny Di Francesco (400 Gradi, 90 Secondi and Zero Gradi) will appear during the region’s Swiss Italian Fiesta for an Italian masterclass. Sharon Flynn (The Fermentary) will host a session on fermentation in November. Mat Linday (Ester in Sydney), Ryan Squires (Esquire in Brisbane) and Frank Camorra (MoVida) will round out the program with a summer session in the new year.

Since the Cooking School began four years ago, the Lake House has worked hard to create a calendar of events that support the area’s producers. It has brought in chefs with influential food philosophies (such as Attica’s Ben Shewry) for hands-on demonstrations and discussions around food, encouraging participants to understand and connect with what they eat.

“It’s a particular thrill for me to share this local bounty of ours with so many of Australia’s greatest chefs and a keen, engaged audience,” says culinary director Alla Wolf-Tasker.
