Dom Gattermayr and Rose Richards, the duo behind north-side favourite Florian, will open a new cafe in South Melbourne before the end of June. Named Juniper, it’ll have the same feel and focus as Florian – with a few small tweaks.
“Expect the same format of all-day breakfast but with a big bar set-up, serving a selection of salads and a rotating soup menu,” Gattermayr tells Broadsheet. “Juniper will be more of a market-canteen-style eatery, with the same level of service but a more casual approach.”
With its relaxed approach to service, care for quality produce and focus on nourishing food made for eating (not for Instagram), Florian quickly became a Carlton North staple, with frequent weekend lines. Juniper seems likely to follow in these footsteps when it opens in the former Giddiup space on Coventry Street, between Chez Dre and Hector’s Deli.
