Following the move of Collingwood cafe Cibi to a sizeable new home, owners Meg and Zenta Tanaka will close sister Japanese eatery Mina-no-ie.

“Cibi will continue to grow the Mina spirit and we look forward to catering to even more people and groups from our new Cibi space,” said the Tanakas in a statement.

The pair opened Mina-no-ie in 2012 on Peel Street, Collingwood, serving nutritious home-style Japanese dishes inspired by Meg’s upbringing, with a similar dining and retail concept to Cibi. The space also hosted several of celebrated dessert chef Pierre Roelofs’s Dessert Evenings.

“We had a wonderful tenure in Peel Street, meeting so many people at Mina-no-ie and enjoying so many amazing moments and experiences there,” the Tanakas said.

Dedicated fans, fear not: the Mina-no-ie menu will be available at the new Cibi.

Mina-no-ie’s last service will be Friday November 2.
