Café Quince in Clifton Hill, located on a roundabout opposite the now-closed Royal Hotel, has been seriously damaged in a fire on Thursday morning.

A media spokesperson for the Metropolitan Fire Brigade told Broadsheet crews were called to the family-friendly local diner at 8.46am.

When firefighters entered the building it was fully engulfed in fire. The blaze spread into the roof, forcing the evacuation of neighbouring buildings.

The fire was reported under control at 9.14am. The extent of damage to the cafe is currently unknown.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were also on the scene although there were no reported injuries.

The MFB spokesperson also told Broadsheet the cafe’s power company will inspect the power supply to the business. The spokesperson did not confirm the power supply was the cause of the fire.

In February popular Middle Park cafe Mart 130 was severely damaged in a fire. Flemington restaurant Laksa King was also damaged in a blaze before neighbours helped put out the fire.
