After several weeks of anticipation, exacerbated by a number of unforeseen delays (contractors, water damage), Melbourne’s big-kids-in-the-candy-store Ian Burch and Darren Purchese finally open the doors to their Sweet Studio today (Tuesday April 19) in South Yarra.

The delays saw the team’s enthusiasm spill over into two pop-up Sweet Studio events at their temporary Careers Australia digs on Flinders Street, but as of today they finally have a place to call their very own.

The multi-level store on Chapel Street, designed by Joyce + Made architects, promises to be a wonderland for the senses with everything from a chocolate flower wall to a 22 kilogram, 100 per cent chocolate Easter egg, along with an endless array of ideas to ‘pimp your pud’.

Hot off the back of their Melbourne Food and Wine Festival appearances with fellow Brits The Jellymongers Bompas and Parr, Burch and Purchese might have had a few false starts (they were scheduled to open late last week) but they’ve finally arrived in sweet style to showcase a large portion of their autumn collection – and this time it’s not a pop-up, it’s permanent.
