Last week we announced a new project – The Broadsheet Restaurant.

The Broadsheet Restaurant will open on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy as an all-day diner serving breakfast through to dinner and drinks into the night, 7am to 1am.

It’s no easy feat representing an entire city full of world-leading chefs, restaurateurs, bartenders and baristas. First, we focussed on the food. With favourite dishes from Top Paddock, The Kettle Black, Auction Rooms, Tivoli Road Bakery, Five Points Deli, Grain Store, Coda, TONKA, Anada, Town Mouse, The Estelle, Huxtable, Pierre Roelofs, Philippa Sibley, Monsieur Truffe and Pidapipo, the menu will be a selection of what makes dining in this city so great.

Small Batch is running the coffee, with a host of local roasters on a rotating menu. In the evenings, you’ll be greeted with welcome drinks designed by Jack Sotti, the 2015 World Class Bartender of the Year. The Everleigh team has ventured up the road to launch its new bottled cocktails with us, featuring classics such as Negronis and Martinis. Wine has been curated by Sally Humble and her team at Lûmé, who’ve written a short, sharp list of interesting bottles that skew local. A handful of very local beers will be available, too, along with Stella Artois on tap.

The collaborative approach doesn’t stop with the menu and the drinks. Every element of the project, from the furniture, plates and music, to the art on the walls, represents the best of Melbourne.

The Company You Keep has designed the space with architects Therefore Studio. We’re working with Robert Gordon to design the crockery, Northside Records for the music and Brooke Holm photography to feature on the walls. Tait is providing furniture for the deck, Dowel Jones is supplying indoor furniture and Glasshaus is bringing the outdoors in with a selection of plants.

It’s an epic line-up, and one we’re thrilled to be providing a platform for.

The Broadsheet Restaurant will open for service on Friday June 5 and run until Sunday August 2. You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in special events, including intimate chef dinners.

The Broadsheet Restaurant is not taking bookings, so get in early. The countdown begins.
