With an emphasis on food for sharing, Blondie Bar is the perfect den for a pre or post-theatre meal, or for those who want a quiet escape from the throng of Southbank’s main thoroughfare.

Blondie Bar replaces Creole outpost My Mexican Cousin, which had occupied the spot since 2011. While My Mexican Cousin’s Salvatore Malatesta and his partners no longer own the business, head chef Benjamin Ransom has stayed on to join the Blondie team.

Ransom has devised a menu featuring strong French and Asian influences and various sharing plates, as well as an assortment of mains for those with stomachs sure to be rumbling before intermission.

A selection of sharing plates might include lightly seared scallops with squid ink abalone sausage, or potted chicken liver parfait served with crunchy crostini and fig chutney. The menu also boasts a set of encore-worthy desserts, the standout being a popcorn-infused crème brûlée served with amaretto sorbet, toffee-covered popcorn and a halo of spun sugar.

A central bar serves the casual diners who are after a light meal or a drink, while friendly yet professional table service is available to those who take a seat in the main dining area.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Blondie Bar is a welcome addition to this quiet pocket of the Southbank, perfect for theatregoers, business types after more than just their usual sandwich for lunch, and casual diners alike.
