To celebrate 10 years and over two million pizzas, Bimbo Deluxe in Fitzroy will be throwing a seven-day party serving pizza at the price as when they first opened: $2 for lunch and $3 for dinner.
Not that it wasn’t cheap already – the budget-friendly gourmet pizza that is $4 during special times (and otherwise no more than $7.90) has been pulling in the young and grungy for a decade now and continues to make hungry hipsters happy with this new special.
From Monday to Sunday, the celebrations will also include music every night from some of the best local DJ talent, as well as infused vodkas, a diverse selection of beers and an all-Australian wine list.
Within the dim spaces of Bimbo Deluxe, where mismatched chairs, vintage lamps and plywood tables make up the quirky dining area, the crew will also be serving up six different hot dogs for those that way inclined.
If you’re there for your favourite pizza, you’ll find it all on this menu, from the simple and delicious Margherita and the spicy Il Gambaretto (with garlic prawns and chilli), to the Poncho, piled high with corn chips, beans, jalapenos and sour cream. And if you can scrounge around for another $2 coin, you can finish up with a dessert pizza swimming in toppings of dark Belgian chocolate, mascarpone and strawberries.
On the warmer days, Bimbo-goers tend to flock upstairs to the rooftop beer garden, where the shabby, vintage and mismatched theme continues, creating a relaxed and comfortable space ideal for whiling away a summer afternoon.
