Eun Hee An (ex- Moon Park, Paper Bird) and Mei Onsamlee’s popular West Melbourne cafe Moon Mart had its last day of trade in its original Stawell Street space on Sunday September 22.

The business partners say Moon Mart West Melbourne closed due to circumstances beyond their control. “We wanted to stay there forever, but some things are out of our control and unfortunately the lease had to end,” An told Broadsheet at the time.

The pair have now secured a new location for Moon Mart at 315 Clarendon Street, South Melbourne and hope to open mid-October.

An and Onsamlee founded the unassuming Korean-Japanese cafe at the end of 2022. It quickly became a Melbourne favourite thanks to brunch dishes including char siu bacon-and-egg rolls, egg sandos and rice sets. The cafe is also popular for An’s house-made condiments like gochujang and white kimchi.

“We’ve been a bit overwhelmed [by] how much Melbourne has welcomed us!” the pair said in an email also signed by Kong, An’s Pomeranian and the cafe’s unofficial mascot.
