Eun Hee An (ex-Moon Park, Paper Bird) and Mei Onsamlee’s West Melbourne cafe favourite Moon Mart will have its last day of trade in its current Stawell Street space on Sunday September 22.

The business partners say Moon Mart is closing due to “circumstances outside our control”, but say they are close to opening a new venue.

An and Onsamlee founded the unassuming Korean and Japanese cafe at the end of 2022. It quickly became a Melbourne favourite thanks to brunch dishes including a char siu bacon and egg roll, egg sandos and rice sets. The cafe is also popular for An’s house-made condiments such as gochujang and white kimchi.

“We’ve been a bit overwhelmed [by] how much Melbourne has welcomed us!” they said in an email also signed by Kong, An’s Pomeranian and the cafe’s unofficial mascot.
