Cam’s Kiosk Is Gone. But Here Comes Bar Familiar

Cam’s Kiosk was a fixture at Abbotsford Convent for 17 sweet years before suddenly closing in June. But in good news for al fresco drinkers across the inner north, two former employees have taken over the space and plan to reopen this month.

Bar Familiar, by Alessia Augello and Stephanie Lane, will bring a new approach.

“We feel so energised to create something special for the community and are uniquely placed to understand exactly what that should be,” Augello said in a statement.

“We’re excited to carry forward the warmth and hospitality the space is known for, while bringing our own ideas and vision for the future,” Lane wrote.

The duo has also re-hired Cam’s head chef Alisha Grant, who will introduce some new dishes while certain old favourites stick around.

Bar Familiar opens at Abbotsford Convent, 1 St Heliers Street, in August.
