After closing for the cooler months, construction on the next edition of Arbory Afloat – Melbourne’s favourite floating bar – has begun. And this time the Arbory Bar & Eatery offshoot is going to have a pool.
That’s right, you’ll actually be able to swim in the Yarra in between sips of your Spritz and snacks from the Miami-themed menu that’s replacing last year’s Italian offering. Private cabanas, palm trees and a palette of pastel pinks and blues will complete the ’70s Miami theme.
Dishes planned for this year include short-rib empanadas, cubanos, Miami club sandwiches, whole fried fish to build your own tacos, and a raw bar featuring oysters, ceviche and Peruvian-style tuna sashimi with mango. The menu isn’t entirely abandoning Italy though – the woodfired pizzas introduced last year will return. And while a strong focus on gin will remain, last year’s Aperol Spritz menu will shift to rum cocktails served on tap.
This season will be Arbory Afloat’s longest to date when it opens from mid-September at 1 Flinders Walk, Melbourne.
