A lot can happen in 90 seconds. Just ask Johnny Di Francesco, the man behind Melbourne’s newest boutique pizzeria, aptly named 90 Secondi. In a custom-made wood-fire pizza oven shipped directly from Napoli, Di Francesco’s team can craft pizzas that rival the best in Melbourne – and they make ‘em quick. According to Di Francesco, “If it’s in the oven longer than 90 seconds, then it isn’t a true Neapolitan-style pizza.”

90 Secondi is the latest venture launched by the team behind the acclaimed 400 Gradi pizzeria in Brunswick East and is hosted by the newly built NAB building at the foot of the Etihad Stadium.

During the week, expect the restaurant to be filled with wandering corporates, daily commuters and those looking for a quick lunch and glass of wine. Come the weekend, football fans bustle past as they enter the turnstiles of Etihad stadium.

Along with Neapolitan pizza staples, look out for deep fried zucchini flowers, pan fried octopus, char grilled lamb ribs or fresh tomato salads with bocconcini cheese. There’s also a fine selection of desserts to choose from, including vanilla and strawberry-infused panna cotta and a lengthy wine list.

90 Secondi is set to serve as a much needed pre-game dinner destination for the discerning fan, or a new home for Docklands corporates who are seeking quality service and Italian staples amongst the slim pickings of the city’s western fringe.
