On Wednesday July 30, Joey Kellock’s Thornbury restaurant 1800 Lasagne entered administration. But, for now, it remains open as usual.
“While we have entered into voluntary administration to restructure the company, we are excited and positive about the future,” the team said in a statement in response to Broadsheet 's request for comment. “This process is making way for new opportunities and growth. 1800 Lasagne remains committed to its loyal staff and suppliers. It will continue to serve its loving community and show up for local hospitality.”
The High Street restaurant opened in November 2020, five years after Kellock first launched the business as a lasagne delivery service. It began as a side hustle that Kellock operated while organising music festivals, but became a full-time gig when Covid brought the events industry to a standstill.
“1800 Lasagne has always been about people, passion and plates of love – and that hasn’t changed,” the team wrote in an Instagram post today (August 6).
Suntop Plaza, the Brunswick East cafe Kellock was part of the opening team of last year, does not appear to be affected. The status of Kellock’s yet-to-open venues 1800 La-Sanga and Cinque! Cinque! Cinque!, which were announced in 2023, remains unclear.
