Until recently, Ruaraidh Gunn was better know for his work on a court than on the coffee machine, but with his new venture into hospitality – care of new Armadale cafe 8Days – the former professional royal tennis player is well and truly broadening his skill set.
With his eye now on the bean, 8Days was named after what Gunn sees as the optimum time to grind coffee beans after roasting. At 8Days, the beans are roasted by Fives Senses then ground by the 8Days team, eight days later.
Priding themselves on a smart concept, fit-out and locale, 8Days is simple and streamlined in its offerings. Currently open for breakfast and lunch (with an expansion to dinner not too far away) the food is made using top quality produce that is organic and free range. Highlights include the duck and brandy chipolatas with bubble and squeak, poached egg and a spiced tomato relish, or martini cured salmon with salted cucumber, bloody mary salsa and lavosh.
