Upside's not the kind of comfortable bar where you can settle in for the whole night. But as a starting point, it works just fine. That's kind of how Paul Adamo and Vince Sofo envisaged it anyway.

After acquiring the Old Colonial Inn, the duo turned the ground and first floors into Ichi Ni Nana and Cappo Sociale – two restaurants that excel at serving larger groups out for a good time.

Like its neighbours, Upside offers well-made Asian-inspired cocktails, mid-priced Australian wines and smashable tap beers, only in a more relaxed, indoor-outdoor setting. It's the ideal place to meet pre-dinner and wait for that one friend who struggles with punctuality.
