Bernie’s is both personal and political. This FLINTA* (an acronym with roots in 1970s West Germany that’s typically rendered in English as: female, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, transgender and agender) bar sets out to create a space where lesbian joy is foundational, while remaining open and welcoming to the broader queer community and allies.

There’s space for 40 in the courtyard out back, and for a handful out front for footpath drinking. Inside there’s room for 35, where a dark wooden bar sits beneath pendant lamps finished with white lace. You can pull up for a glass of orange wine, a chilled red or classic cocktails.

There’s no kitchen or food served on-site, but guests are encouraged to bring food or order takeaway to the venue from one of the nearby spots, including Good Times or Super Tasty Rooster.
