Phillips Shirts Rock ‘n’ Rolls Sale
274 Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne
After 63 years on Little Lonsdale Street, the Phillips Shirts family is shutting up shop and relocating from what is Melbourne’s last shirt factory. Before it moves out, everything must be cleared, which means clothing, accessories, homewares and fabrics will be heavily reduced. With a back-catalogue of fashion dating to the ‘60s, shoppers can expect to find handmade, paisley-printed shirts that capture trends from the past 50 years. Knits, jackets and denims will be available, alongside contemporary, casual and business shirts, and (wait for it) all items of clothing will be priced at $25 or less. A seriously impressive collection of fabrics will also be on offer: silks, cottons, linens and rare Liberty prints included, some priced as low as $5 per metre. The factory is located across from 1000 £ Bend, so fuel up on caffeine before you hit the sale. This event is not only a chance to score a bargain, but an opportunity to witness a historic piece of Melbourne’s fashion industry. Those into their loud retro-printed shirts shouldn’t miss this one.
