Colab Eyewear is known for its artist-collaboration eyewear, and features a different creative talent each season. It has previously worked with jewellery designer Elke Kramer, street artist Above and singer and producer Toro Y Moi. This season Sydney-based duo Romance Was Born has applied its signature theatrical touch to create two bold eyewear designs.

This is Romance’s first foray into eyewear, and the designs are sophisticated with a dash of the outlandish. The first style, Mushy, features the brand’s mushroom logo on the side arm, and a rectangular frame. It is available in three different colourways: white with subtle pinstripes; black with a silver glitter fade; and pink and purple stripes on the frame with bright rose-coloured lenses.

Cindy, a tribute to Cindy Crawford (inspired by her colouring according to the designers), is a classically oversized style. It comes in a dramatic dappled multicolour frame; gold with gilded-mirror lenses; and a sophisticated black, with a delicate fade.

The bold eyewear designs were shot by Sydney photographer Samuel Hodge, with artwork provided by Melbourne artist Minna Gilligan. The images are colour-saturated and quirky, characteristic of both the collage artist and the Sydney fashion duo.

Each style is limited, with only 1000 available worldwide. They are available to purchase both online and in-store now.
