On average, every woman is said to own seven pairs of jeans. Unsurprisingly, Australian label Morrison has broadened its repertoire of womenswear to permanently include denim.
Joining the new autumn/winter collection is a selection of classic denim designs including a straight-leg jean, slouchy jean, knee-length pencil skirt and oversized anorak.
“Our customers have been asking us to do denim for a while now and we thought, why not?” says founder and creative director, Kylie Radford.
Although denim is trend driven, Radford says she’s designed styles that are timeless with a focus on great-fitting cuts.
“We did some denim in the early days of Morrison but only on a very small scale,” says Radford. “We felt this was the right time to bring it back and wanted to include some more relaxed pieces in our collection. Denim also works well with our shirting and knitwear.”
The small edit is made from soft denim in a limited palette of washed blue or dark charcoal. Prices range from $199 for a pair of jeans, to $379 for the anorak.
Morrison launched its first boutique 2002 in Fremantle and quickly developed a local reputation for functional, relaxing clothing. Today the brand is sold across the world, stocked in boutiques Australia-wide.
