Lonely Swim is the new line from the ever-expanding New Zealand fashion brand, Lonely. “Lonely’s intention from the outset was to become a lifestyle brand. We want all our Lonely girls to be able to enjoy wearing our garments across their lifestyle, whether lounging around, or active and on the move,” explains the label’s director and designer Helene Morris.

The ultimate sports luxe collection reinterprets popular cuts from the lingerie range, eschewing delicate lace and velvet strapping in favour of mesh, zips and Lycra. “Lonely Swim and Lingerie share the same DNA in many ways. But functionally we have found the shapes, fabrics and fits work very differently between the two, and are designed independently with these in mind,” says Morris.

An all-black range of staples sets the scene for Lonely’s poolside siren. Morris explains that the Lycra, sport mesh and black palette, “Is a nod to our more subversive undertones and is a very versatile colour to wear. These are teamed up with paneling details, waterproof zips and snap closures.” These sporty materials and technical details add toughness to the label’s signature feminine cuts.

Morris developed the collection by looking at classic swimwear items such as triangle bikinis, rash vests and one-pieces and redesigning them with the Lonely girl in mind. “Like Lonely Lingerie our inspirations always start with our customers and the different lifestyles they lead,” says Morris.

The collection is focused on creating silhouettes that will flatter a range of body types while maintaining Lonely’s reputation for functional, well-fitted garments that stand the test of time. Most importantly, though, the swimwear range finally offers an addition to your Lonely collection that you can wear outside.
