Not that long ago we wrote about the opening of LifewithBird’s first shop. Now, less than six months later, they have opened their second store, named Project 7. Located in the front room of an old two-storey terrace on Brunswick Street, Project 7 is an evolving project that will begin as a retail space for the local label.

The store resides in what was the front room of this home with an original steel factory-style window with concertina awnings adorning an unassuming charcoal façade. Other industrial elements include a counter made of stacked wooden packing pallets and topped with glass, and the all-white interior that acts as a blank canvas against which to present the collections.

Speaking of which, the opening of the store also coincides with the launch of the LifewithBird spring/summer 2010 range, which is in stores now. With something of 70s nuance, the collection features tailored trench coats, boy-cut trousers, safari jumpsuits, and floral prints and sheer layering in easy-to-wear pieces. Bringing the old to the new, LifewithBird will also be relaunching a leather bag collection that first built the label’s name. Such accessories will compliement a display of Australian jewellery from local makers such as Tessa Blazey and Kester Black.

To celebrate the shop opening and in collaboration with Mitchell Oakley Smith, LifewithBird will host an event at the new shop which will launch Smith’s new book, FASHION – Australian & New Zealand Designers.
