Australian and New Zealand fashion designers are increasingly gaining attention and momentum on fashions’ world stage. With the likes of Kit Willow, Toni Maticevski and Arnsdorf turning heads with their autumn/winter collections at New York Fashion Week earlier this year, international audiences are beginning to take note of the waves local designers are making.

In his new book, FASHION, associate editor of GQ Australia, Mitchell Oakley Smith, has compiled a fully illustrated documentation of Australia and New Zealand’s current players in the international fashion arena. Showcasing the work of 70 leading contemporary designers hailing from both sides of the Tasman, FASHION profiles outstanding men’s, women’s, haute couture and street wear collections in a broad cross-section of the local design industry.

A celebration of both Australia and New Zealand’s distinctive and innovative design talent, FASHION is brought to life with stylish designs, campaign shots and current catwalk. Creating a balance of both the newer kids on the block and the pioneers, with the likes of Akira, Dion Lee, Romance Was Born, TV, Zambesi and Nom*D among its featured.

FASHION will be launched this week at featured designer LifewithBird’s recently opened retail space in Fitzroy, Project 7.
