Elke Kramer has cast female icons as the stars of her autumn/winter Alchemy campaign, expanding the trail of evocative images now synonymous with her eponymous label.

Kramer and photographer Christopher Morris have produced a series of vibrant portraits that nurture the creative possibilities of her dynamic jewellery. Creative women who inspire Kramer – including Anna Plunkett (Romance was Born), Isabella Manfredi (front woman from The Preachers), Cara-Joy Purkis (stylist and costume designer), Selena Murray (Redfern’s Eathouse Diner) and Nirrimi and Firebrace (We Live Young) – imprint her designs with their own distinctive personalities.

Alchemy is a kind of compile of Kramer’s favourite styles from past ranges and showcases her ability to create a dazzling, variegated collection of collectible pieces from non-precious materials. It is distinctly bold and modern, while exuding an exoticism that transcends any concrete sense of time and place.

Colours and fabrications are updated while remaining true to her signature aesthetic. A palette of chartreuse, peacock green, crimson red and seafaring blues echo the life-affirming experience of being immersed in an epic, natural landscape.

Among the many highlights of the collection are tasselled earrings made from handmade silk braid and Dalmatian jasper, as well as silk scarves featuring intricately collaged gemstones that resonate brilliantly on canvases of floaty silk georgette and twill.

Alchemy is available now at elkekramer.com and at selected stockists nationwide.
