We sent stylish snapper Kaede James Takamoto around town, from Northcote and Thornbury to South Yarra and Hawthorn, to find out what some of the city’s more stylish citizens are wearing. Here are a few of our favourite looks.

Kirsty Boskemper-Irwin, Toorak Road, South Yarra

Age: 33 Occupation: Fashion designer Tell us about your outfit today. I’m really casual today because I’m moving house. The blazer is from my label, Boskemper Studio, then I just have a hoodie on and my favourite black jeans, which are from Nobody. The cute little French Mary Janes are from Sezane and I bought my bag in Tokyo – I wish I could remember where! My sunnies are from Vehla and jewellery from Mejuri. How do you describe your style? I like to have a mixture of femme and masc. I hate when it’s ever too far one way.

Young Hour Sor, Victoria Market, CBD

Age: 27 Occupation: Artist Tell us about your outfit today. The pants are from Aelfric Eden – what caught my eye was the star motif. On top is a shirt that I thrifted forever ago, and a dress from a cute womenswear store in the Kyoto train station. The bag and jewellery are also thrifted. The shoes are Windsor Smith. What’s a trend you love or hate? I’m a big fan of office wear coming back in. I also like quaint, cottagecore dressing because it’s very comfy, but pairing that with something that clashes with it.

CN: My favorite things I’m wearing are my fluffy boots, which I got on Facebook marketplace from this lady in Kyneton. Pants are just trackies from the op shop. My shorts are Issey Miyake Pleats Please, I think I got them from Vestiaire. And then I have this ginormous T-shirt dress/thing from PAM.

The beautiful bow bag is from my friend Liv’s brand, Equilibrium. What do you gravitate towards when shopping? I’m a very plain girl, I like black and white. Every now and again, I’ll buy something that’s a lot more exciting, so I can wear all my basics with that piece, like a capsule wardrobe. What’s a trend you love or hate? Hate micro trends and fast fashion.

SG: The jeans are from Dejour on Sydney Road. The shoes are op shop – they’re like old lady orthotic shoes. This dress thing is from an op shop, the jumper is my partner’s from Uniqlo so it’s very oversized. The ring my mum got me, she has a matching one.
