Each year, the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival brings us the flights of fancy the fashion industry is fuelled by. Equally important, though, is the nuts and bolts of it all – we’re talking business.

Here are three key events for anyone working in the industry, or interested in how the fashion biz works.

Marketing Breakfast
Thu March 10, 7.30am–9am

This year’s marketing breakfast brings in the big guns. The headline guest is Nicola Formichetti, the internationally renowned, and widely influential, creative director of Diesel. He’s dream speaker for anyone interested in marketing to young people.

Formerly creative director at French fashion house Mugler, and contributor to every progressive fashion magazine of the past two decades, Formichetti has always been one step ahead.

Diesel’s recent emoji-stamped campaigns, along with the brand’s decision to advertise on Tinder, Grindr and PornHub, are reflective of Formichetti’s fearlessness and forward thinking.
