Any sort of beauty treatment always feels a little decadent; an indulgence saved for a time when you need some rejuvenating. You walk into a salon feeling dull and dry and walk out glowing, your skin having never felt quite so soft. Though it doesn’t last much longer than the morning, you feel it for days.
Tucked down a suburban street in Hawthorn, we’ve come across a little retreat for some quiet pampering. It snuck in just behind The Woodsfolk about two months ago, sharing the rear of the charming Victorian terrace, and just down the road from Ocha.
With a wholesome approach to beauty, after working together at New Zealand's prestigious Polynesian Spa, kiwis Richie Angelo and Stacey Burt have created a warm salon space at Made Beauty Space (exposed brick, white walls, wooden floorboards, high ceilings) with two sleek, minimalist rooms for treatments.
As for treatments, their signature is the Tailor Made 60-minute Sodashi Facial, a treatment that includes deep facial cleansing, aromatic compresses and a specialised facial massage, using 100 per cent natural products made in Perth by Sodashi. A pure and intensive repairing treatment for your skin, this luxurious facial is customised to your face and skin type.
Other treatments include a back facial (Made for Backs), which they say is great for people who spend time on a yoga mat. They also do peels and grooming (lash and brown tints), waxing, manicures and pedicures using Miss Frou Frou polishes.
All products they use are organic, natural and from the Antipodes.
