The rain held off for night two of Melbourne Fashion Festival’s premium runway program – the damp pavement serving as a muted stage for the bold textures and tones of the street-style set. It was the perfect prelude to the National Designer Award x David Jones and the National Graduate Showcase – two of the program’s most experimental and exciting shows.
Outside, Broadsheet photographer Meaghan Coles captured a masterclass in maximalism, defined by a fearless collision of patterns and textures. And while the modern uniform of knee-grazing shorts and structured blazers maintained its steady hold, scarves provided the season’s most inventive pivot, being artfully knotted around the waist to break up traditional silhouettes.
