Whether it’s with a nod to the ’80s with a bomber jacket revival, or by getting creative with your layers, a drop in the mercury is the perfect excuse to reinvent your personal style. In partnership with Westfield Knox, here are this season’s hottest (or coolest) trends – and where to shop for must-have pieces.

Singlets for jumpers, shorts for trousers, sandals for boots and minis for maxis – it’s that time of year when we swap out cooling summer clothes for thicker winter warmers. If your cold weather wardrobe needs a refresh, this season’s trends are a good place to start.

We’ve rounded up four must-have styles for autumn and winter, plus the pieces to shop and where to get them. Tired of shopping online for clothes that don’t fit, or hopping from one end of the city to the other to visit different stores? Luckily everything you need can be found at Westfield Knox.

Layer cake

You don’t need us to tell you that wearing layers is a necessary step to keep warm – but layering for both style and comfort is a different challenge altogether. Our favourite place to start is with a Uniqlo Heattech long sleeve top – the key is to have a few different sizes to layer successfully. Start with the crew neck long sleeve and layer with the scoop neck long sleeve in dark grey over it: the low neck can be manoeuvred to be slightly off the shoulder to create an interesting asymmetrical effect. Not only does this give you double the warmth, but it also makes a basic top more interesting. You can also chuck a button-up knit jumper from All About Eve over a coloured or printed singlet: the contrast of colours and textures elevates the look while still keeping things comfy.

Bombs away

Bomber jackets are everywhere right now, and for good reason. The usually cropped fit offers a flattering silhouette and is very versatile when it comes to styling. Made popular in the ’80s, it’s coming back into fashion with a modern twist. If you’ve scrolled through Pinterest recently, you’d notice brown bombers in particular are having a moment, and this faux leather number by Glassons is an affordable option for hopping on the trend. If you’re looking for something cosy, Forever New’s twill bomber is the place to start. Decjuba also has a chic take on the trend. Of course, you can’t go for a bomber without opting for a classic like this elegant long-line version. Whatever version you choose, style it up and layer with a dress over jeans.

Lean in to leopard print

If you’re intimidated by colour but love a neutral print, leopard spots might surprise you. Whether it’s a subtle detail to add texture to an all-black outfit like this belt or a layered scarf or even a pair of statement jeans, the beauty of a neutral-toned print is its versatility. Dresses, suits, pants, boots? Anything and everything goes.

Accessorise to the occasion

No season was built for accessorising quite like winter. Accessories can add flair to an otherwise boring look, while also being functional by keeping in heat. There’s a world of options to choose from, whether it’s a classic beanie with a pom pom or cosy faux fur ear muffs. Opt for a twist on a classic scarf with this fringed triangle option from Decjuba, or rug up with the extra warm blanket scarf from Muji.
