Nicole Sullivan began Cultiver in 2012 to enhance everyday life through luxurious homewares. From vintage silk velvet cushions, to hand-woven kilim rugs, Cultiver is about thinking carefully about those things we come into contact with the most in our homes. This points naturally to the bedroom, and at the crux of the brand is beautiful, stonewashed bedding in pure French flax linen, which is truly a dream to sleep in.

The earthy colourways of Cultiver linens aren’t based on trends or frequent turnovers. “We’ve worked hard to come up with a really solid core range of colours that work seamlessly into people’s homes,” Sullivan says.

Cultiver’s linen is soft and inviting. “A lot of people have misconceptions about linen,” says Sullivan. “But French flax linen is really soft and comfortable to sleep in. Often people will buy a duvet cover and be so surprised by its softness, that they come back to buy the sheets shortly thereafter.” Linen is also ideal for summer weather because it absorbs moisture and is more breathable than most fine cottons. As durable as a good pair of jeans, they get better and softer the more you wash them.

With a background in investment banking, Sullivan is passionate about the scope of online retail and the idea of an ever-changing marketplace. “Every day affords me a new way of seeing things or thinking about the way in which we engage with the products we love. For me that’s the most exciting part of what I do,” she says, “Apart from the good night’s sleep I now get in these sheets.”
