Since their debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia in April 2014, the MacGraw sisters, Beth and Tessa, have been on an upward trajectory with their fresh, delicate designs.

The SS15/16 Shepherdess collection continues this aesthetic. The range features soft pink-and-blue hues in delicate fabrics, emphasising femininity, romance and youth. “We wanted to create a modern-day shepherd look,” says Beth, “designed for the cool fashion girl who doesn’t take herself too seriously.”

So, naturally, a lamb was the perfect motif for the season. “It was our literal (but fun) take on the shepherd-girl.” The catalogue for the new campaign was shot with a mini-flock of lambs, proving the most adorable distraction. “All we wanted was cuddles!,” Beth confesses. “We got to feed them with a bottle between shots. It was so much fun.”

Tessa, who designs the hand-drawn prints, explains the hard work that goes into refining the label’s signature pieces. “Because we create our prints from scratch, it takes time to get them right. This collection took five months, from concept to production.”

The Shepherdess collection is a testament to their efforts, staying true to the brand’s aesthetic: an attention to detail using simple silhouettes and elegant fabrics, all with an unconventional twist.

Tessa and Beth’s work ethic and detail-oriented designs have attracted attention and acclaim in the fashion world. Their Fashion Week show this year was a favourite with international buyers, and the label has since taken orders from luxury international retailers in Europe, the US and Asia. The girls are pleased with their success. “It has been a really exciting year for us. We are kind of pinching ourselves.”
