Newly opened shoe emporium Victorine is here to show Melbourne women what they’ve been missing.
Being involved with iconic men’s shoe store Beggar Man Thief taught business partners Sarina Lewis and Kirsty Umback a thing or two about quality shoes. “We’ve really filled a niche in the market that women have been crying out for,” explains Umback. “We’ve gone for the best brands that we know are producing premium products but are not then adding another 50 per cent mark up because it’s got a name on it.”
Spread over three rooms in a light-filled, Victorian terrace, Victorine showcases brogues, boots, loafers and sneakers from labels such as Vanishing Elephant, Meandher, Grenson and New Balance. But Victorine doesn’t stop at shoes, working with local producers where possible to bring complementary accessories that are “finished, polished and premium.” The range includes the likes of printed stockings from Strathcona Stockings, handmade Tsuki candles and Shanghai Suzi lipstick.
Victorine is cutting through the trends to bring women timeless, quality shoes that will stand the test of time. Umback says, “You want a shoe that turns heads but it doesn’t need to be a six-inch stiletto to do that.”
