For those in Australia who are unfamiliar with Le Labo, it opened in the Nolita neighbourhood of Manhattan in 2006. Since then it’s attained something of cult status in the city – its Santal 33 scent in particular has fans in everyone from Alexa Chung to Justin Bieber.
In March the perfume maker will open its first Melbourne store in Fitzroy.
Known for its unisex, 100 per cent vegan fragrances, perfume oils and candles, Le Labo scents are named for what they are – take the Patchouli 24 or, Jasmine 17. (The figure refers to the number of notes used to create the fragrance).
Beyoncé even burned a Le Labo candle in her visual-album Lemonade.
MECCA Australia is currently the only stockist of Le Labo products. But in the new store you’ll get the holistic Le Labo experience – select a scent and have it blended in front of you. A customisable message label is also affixed to each perfume bottle and candle.
The Le Labo Melbourne store will be located at 183 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy and will stock the full Le Labo range.
Stay tuned for details on the exact opening date.
