As the remnants of the Indian summer recedes, SS 12 collections are starting to emerge, giving us a peek at what we'll be wearing in six months’ time. For Felix Chan, Huw Bennett and Arran Russell’s Vanishing Elephant, it will be the first season in which they will not only be dropping their usual men’s collection, but will also debut their menswear-influenced womenswear line.

In the meantime, the Vanishing Elephant man continues to evolve. SS 12 sees the Vanishing Elephant crew continue to explore their earthy yet thoroughly urban persona. Heading in a more experimental direction this summer, the VE man is more fashionably confident and therefore more exploratory with his choices – a little bolder with colour, print and the combinations of both, which might be styled together with the sweet roll of a trouser cuff.

Casual but always thoughtful, the soft poplins and rugby jerseys that go hand in hand with trim suiting are all perfect for the artfully rumpled but ever-so-sharp boys about town. Basics are never boring in the hands of Vanishing Elephant, especially with charmingly unobtrusive prints (the flag print is our fave) and the bold pops of yellow to compliment the use of hero cotton chinos in the core colours of navy, khaki and wine. A more relaxed trouser style in a fuller fit are pulled together with neat shirting in navy, white and charcoal. All in all, Vanishing Elephant deliver yet another collection grounded in the classics that befit the modern gentleman.

The SS 12 collection will be available in stores this August.
