81 Rupert Street, Collingwood
Not-for-profit business Schoolhouse Studios – which provides affordable workspaces for Melbourne creatives – has recently added engagement parties, weddings and “love parties” to its events repertoire. It’s committed to operating a sustainable business and minimising its environmental footprint by working with caterers which source locally and nurseries that hire out recycled plants. All of the profits go back into supporting local, emerging artists and creatives, too. In order to get the ball rolling, Schoolhouse is offering a 10 per cent discount to couples that book in June and July. The introduction of these love events was inspired by the recent marriage-equality vote, aiming to give same-sex couples a comfortable and welcoming venue.
