With its eclectic mix of clothes, accessories and all things cute, Melbournian’s treasured Genki just as much for their iconic ‘I love’ tees, as their genuinely welcoming and warm approach.

But after eleven years of retail hustle and bustle, owner Chanie Stock, felt it was time for a change of pace.

“After I had my third child, it became increasingly difficult to balance motherhood and run Genki. I constantly felt like a woman torn - when I was with my baby and kids, I thought about Genki and when I was at work, I felt guilty about not being with my family. I couldn’t sustain the passion and creative energy needed to nurture the Genki store so I decided to take a break and focus on my family for a while,” explains Stock

With Genki lovers suffering serious withdrawals, Stock started receiving a steady stream of emails and letters pleading for her return. So, to create the second incarnation of Genki, Chanie rallied together a formidable team including Melbourne-based artist Beci Orpin and the tech-heads at Inventive Labs. Together they have recreated the intimate feel and unique flavour of the Genki retail experience at its new online home.

The Pre-loved Goodies page and the Dear Genki section add a personal touch, which is very important. People say they loved the Genki store because it was so much more than just a shopping experience. We always enjoyed getting to know our customers and sharing stories, so I’m really excited about continuing and developing these friendships online,” says Stock

Not only will you find all your old Genki favourites at their online store, but there are new ranges and gems to discover. Stock also shares her Recipe of the Week, offers styling tips and serves up a slice of wardrobe inspiration.
