As a fashion blog pioneer and social media expert, Susie Lau of the blog Style Bubble has traipsed cities and fashion circuits worldwide. Next week, London-based Lau will embark on an Australian tour, bringing her knowledge to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in a series of talks presented by Portable.
Since launching her blog in 2006, Lau has witnessed the rise of the fashion blogger first hand. With articulate posts and a unique approach to documenting style, Lau’s blog quickly caught the attention of the likes of the New York Times and soon rocketed to become one of the highest traffic fashion blogs in the world today. From Dior and Prada to Topshop, big brands spotted Lau’s talent early on, recruiting her to help them become relevant to a dedicated online audience.
In a globalised online world, it is becoming essential that fashion retailers, designers, bloggers and industry stakeholders understand the workings and influence of online media. In the upcoming series, Lau will explore the current media and social media landscapes and pinpoint how brands and designers alike can work with online publishers to position themselves on a global scale. Lau will also turn the subject on its head, reflecting on her experiences as a fashion blogger in overcoming the challenges of a saturated online media world.
Suffice to say, we’re keen to hear her insights.
