You can blame it on this season’s revival of all things seventies – but clogs are a certified shoe-in as spring’s 'it' footwear.

While they have traditionally been the shoe of choice of nurses, chefs and merry milkmaids, clogs have recently received a designer update courtesy of Chanel, Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. Hollywood’s early adopters have also seen everyone from Alexa Chung to the Olsens getting their clog on.

One Melbourne-based label leading the resurgence is May. Proving that the hideous, gelatinous Croc isn’t the only comfy clog on the block, May’s take on a vintage classic means you don’t have sacrifice style for comfort.

“Our clogs are fairly light in comparison to a traditional clog,” says Georgia Phillis, the designer behind May. “Also in comparison to a stiletto, the chunky, wide-base heel and platform sole makes them much more wearable for extended periods. [Plus], we included cushioning on the inner sole of the May clog.”

Perfect for teaming with rolled-up, abbreviated jeans or pretty, flouncy dresses; clogs are an easy way to update your transeasonal wardrobe. And the variety of heights – platform, flat and middie – currently in store means there’s a comeback clog for all.
