Christian Kimber, of his eponymous men's footwear label, will combine the launch of a new collection of suede boots and loafers with a pop-up shop at Collins Street hair salon, Herr Blick.
Aesthetically, it’s an ideal fit, as both share a European sensibility that harks back to a bygone era. Whether for the hair or feet, the prevailing style is classic with a touch of quirk.
One of the bespoke salon’s suites, adorned with mid-century furnishings, will provide the backdrop for Kimber’s latest range of shoes and accessories.
The collection will showcase some new styles as well as the signature, handmade tasselled loafers and chukka boots. Influenced by a palette of teas, expect suede creations in earthy browns, caramels and greys. Pocket squares featuring Kimber’s abstract artwork will also be on offer – one influenced by Federation Square and the other by architecture in Florence.
Currently stocked at Beggar Man Thief and Henry Bucks, Christian Kimber Footwear exudes class but is not too precious, with the designs echoing a mix of Saville Row finesse (a nod to Kimber’s British background) and a distinctly Aussie touch. They work equally well with sharp tailoring or beat-up denim, and comfort is most importantly at the fore.
The pop-up shop will be a chance to kill two birds with one stone - treat your feet and perhaps top it all off with a Herr Blick trim. It will be open for only three days, so we need not tell you that time is of the essence.
