Japanese-born, Melbourne-based artist Yoko Okawa has been working with ceramics for more than 15 years, moving between her two homes.
Okawa has used her links in Japan to curate 余韻 (yo-in) afterglow, a collection of pieces by leading Japanese ceramicists.
It's a rare chance to see – and purchase – works from the seven notable artists. Japan’s rich ceramic history permeates the offering, though each artist adds their own contemporary flair.
The collection name’s 余韻 (yo-in) has been translated to “afterglow”, which here alludes to being moved by an experience where the memory lingers.
It will be on display Mr Kitly's gallery space until March 2.
The homewares store – which stocks ceramics, books, jewellery, plants and textiles from around the world – can be found above a fabric shop on Sydney Road, Brunswick.
Opening night is February 8, from 6pm to 8pm.
